Addison's 2nd Birthday
Crazy! It can't be happening to me!!! Addison just turned two today. What makes that even more hard to believe is that that means I also almost have a five year old but I will write about that on Ethan's birthday. It is so strange to think that she is two. In some ways she still seems so little. Unfortunately, I still have people thinking that Addison is a boy, even when she is dressed in head to toe pink or she is wearing a dress. Everyone says that it is because she doesn't have much hair but I think she still looks girly without the hair. On the other hand, I forget that she is only two since she is very smart like her brother and Daddy. She knows here colors, shapes and most of her ABC's. She just absorbs everything. It's probably because she loves, Loves, LOVES to read and she love, Loves, LOVES to listen to music and sing.
Anyway, back to it being her birthday. The day before, we went to the store to get a few birthday things and one tradition we have started, is letting the kids get a birthday balloon at the dollar store. Being part tom boy, she chose the Spider-Man balloon and has been caring around since we brought it home. Today (on her birthday) sadly, was probably like any other day. We didn't have any major plans, just staying at home playing but instead Mommy got into another project of moving furniture around the house. We did ask her what she wanted to do and since Grammy got a new fireplace entertainment center she just wanted to watch her favorite movies, Backyardigans, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Super Why and Despicable Me Movies. We still have the same T.V. just sitting on something new, which makes the T.V. new. I usually don't let them watch so much T.V. but it is her birthday. We did also play games and pretended to be like monkeys by swinging from the bed.
Another part of our tradition on their birthday is to make whatever they want for their birthday dinner. With several of her favorite dinner choices, she decided on mac and cheese with rolls. Then she did her other (becoming daily) favorite ritual, bath time. She didn't take her nap today and we were trying to keep her awake while waiting for Pappi and Grammy to show for the cake and ice-cream. So a bath seemed like a good and easy delay. Unfortuantly though, we couldn't hold out long enough for Pappi and Grammy and ended up singing Happy Birthday to Addison. She decided this year she wanted a monkey pirate theme. Talk about tough and challenging, but we did it as you can see. Thank goodness Grammy gave Ethan a lego Jake and the Neverland Pirate set for Christmas. So we built that and put BooBoo (her favorite monkey) on it. A little cheesy but she couldn't help looking at it all day long because she thought it was the best. She also thought her applesauce cake with cream cheese frosting and chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream tasted as good as it looked.
Afterwards, of course, was presents. From Daddy and Mommy she got a InnoTab 3 (a kid I-pad) which is probably going to be more like a MP3 player to her. Mommy got it mostly so she can listen to all the music that she got for Christmas and that is exactly what she did for the rest of the night. From Grandpa and Grandma Brooks she got a very cute monkey, that she loved and it sounds like she has already named it Banana. We can thank Ethan for helping her name it. She loved it so much she took it to bed and had Mommy read her 5 Little Monkeys Jumping On the Bed. Then while reading Ethan's book for the night she read to herself, five times or more, 5 Little Monkeys Play Hide-And-Seek. These are the moments that you wished would last forever. Even though birthdays are fun, it is a little sad to think that your little ones are growing up even more and so fast. I am trying to take everyone's advice and enjoy all the moments that I have with them. The problem is that I am enjoying all the moments, even the ones that I want to tear my hair out, and they are still growing up so fast on me. My mom said just wait until they are having birthday's past their twenties. I don't even want to think about that or go their.
I love my children so much and since it is Addison's special day, I would like to say how much I love my little girl. She has been a little bit of a challenging child for me, because she is a little bit of a touchy and drama child but as I am getting to know her and learn from her the more and more I see how much I love her. Like I said she is so smart for her age. She is a beautiful little girl, (yes, I am bias), but I have proof that it is not just me that thinks so because I do have random strangers tell me all the time how beautiful my children are. (Yes, when it comes to my kids, I brag without shame). She is also a very sweet sister that loves Ethan so much. She is so tender hearted that if she thinks anyone is hurting any of us she gets upset. Like I said before, she has a love of learning, singing and reading. She makes us smile and laugh everyday. I love you my sweet little girl, Addison.
