Never Ending Awesome 5th Birthday

If you read my entry before, Ethan had a great 5th birthday at Disneyland. Thank you Pappi and Grammy. You would think that after such a great birthday that this birthday has topped all birthdays past and future for Ethan. But this is not the end of his birthday. While at Disneyland, our original plan was to get a cake one night and sing Happy Birthday to Ethan and give him his gifts. Since we were all tired at the end of a great, exciting, exhilarating, stimulating, electrifying, thrilling (well you get the idea)...Addison was already asleep most nights. Everyone else was on the brink of sleep and knowing we needed to sleep so we would be ready for another day of thrilling rides.
So on our way home Thursday evening and on Ethan's real birthday (February 27th) we had the idea of stopping at a restaurant that he would enjoy and were they might sing him Happy Birthday and give him a birthday treat. We stopped at a Red Robbin. There he was able to get a favorite, corn dogs and fries. Bonus because they also had Addison's favorite, Mac and Cheese with fries. Red Robbin also did sing to Ethan and gave him a small sundae that Ethan and Addison shared. Then Daddy and Mommy gave him his birthday gift, a Innotab 3, we call it his IPad.
Again, I thought, what a great birthday my 5 year old had. How will he ever forget it? But when we got home, after unpacking and getting settled again, it was brought to our attention that we didn't get to actually sing Happy Birthday to Ethan and we didn't get any pictures of Ethan blowing out a cake because he never got a birthday cake. No, I told you my kids are not spoiled, so quite thinking it.
So for Family Home Evening, it was actually Ethan's turn for treats and we made a birthday cake. He decided to use his Hulk Smash Lab lego set as the theme for the birthday cake, which I have to say was easy and looked really cool. Then that night we sang Happy Birthday to Ethan, let him blow out his candles, did the traditional height measurements on our ruler and ate cake and ice-cream. No, he did not open any presents though. I almost wrapped all the now empty lego boxes for him to unwrap but decided to remind him that he has been spoiled enough and got lots of toys plus a Disneyland trip for his birthday. He didn't seem disappointed at all. In fact, he probably would have been shocked if we would have had more. He might have wondered if he would really have to move out of his room from so many toys.
After the cake and ice-cream, I looked at Ethan and told him that now he was officially 5 years old and we were officially done celebrating his birthday. We all had a good laugh. I guess you don't turn five everyday, right?
