So today for the kids dinner I made the most
fabulous and healthy dinner for the kids. Macaroni and cheese and rice with hot
dog cut up in it. Okay, I know, that it is not that healthy but I have been
struggling to get my kids to eat. So I thought at least kid friendly. Boy was I
ever wrong. Addison was refusing to eat her mac and cheese or rice and hot
dogs. I didn't get mad. I just reminded her of our rule. No dinner then no
treats or (something that Addison loves even more) no baths.
She was so mad that
Mommy wasn't letting her take a bath that we had another loud wailing, crying
tantrum. I told her to either go play and stop crying or she would have to cry
in her room. Then I count to three slowly to let her decided. Since she was
still crying after three, I assumed that meant she needed to go cry in her
room. So I pick her up and put her in her bed.
You would think that
it is over and done with and Mommy wins in the end. NEVER!!!! I go check on
Addison after a few minutes and she tells me that she pee her bed on purpose.
Yes, Addison is only two but she is potty trained during the day and hasn't pee
her underwear for months now. She even admits that she pee the bed because she
is mad at Mommy.
There was many different
emotions hitting me at once and I just stood there for a minute not sure how to
feel. I was, of course, irritated that she pee the made bed and now have to
wash all the blankets and sheets. I was impressed but not to shocked that she
thought of retaliating back and getting even with mom by peeing her bed. I was
also trying to hold back a laugh because the way she told be she peed the the
bed because she was mad at Mommy and then right after her statement asked me if
I was going to wash her bed.
While trying not to laugh
and keeping a straight face, I did threaten to not wash her bed and had her
consider the fact that she might have to sleep in a peed bed. How mean would
that be? Then we changed her clothes and I put her on time out. She was on a
time out chair where she couldn't see Mommy gathering the sheets and blankets
and taking them to the laundry room to clean. Then after a few minutes on time
out we had a talk about how we don't pee our bed or underwear and how she knows
that no dinner equals no treats or baths.
I know, does this
ever end. Yes, in the end Mommy ended up raiding the fridge for leftovers that
Addison would agree to eat for dinner so she could have her bath and treats. I
have to say that her choice was better than Mommy's dinner in the end. She had
leftover tilapia with some french fries.
Then she even got an ice-cream cone with a
bath afterwards and treats for the night.
Does it end there?
No the night keeps going like this tell bed time. Addison was on a roll tonight
and wanted to do everything that she knew she wasn't supposed to do. Taking off
her pajamas that she chose and refusing to put them back on for bed. Finally we
find another pair of pajamas that she was okay with. Playing with the mini
blind cords, which Mommy had to be really firm on and hang them up high. A few
minutes before bedtime, asking for pancakes and strawberry milk. Like I said
never ending night. And the score Addison: 20 million Mommy: none. Being a
mother is still the best though and I am glad my my kids are independent and
determined. Just need to find a way to work to my advantage sometimes.
