Addison....Potty Training??!!

Addison....
Only Two,

Mommy's Little Baby Girl.

I cannot believe that I am already writing an entry on my little baby girl potty training. I know most mothers feel this way with their children when they get to this stage in life but it seems to soon. Addison only turned two in January and now she is wanting to potty train. I don't really know what started it but the last couple of weeks she was really interested in the potty. Then one day I asked her if she wanted to sit on the Elmo potty. (Yes, Ethan has a kid toilet seat that is Elmo swimming on it). I didn't think she would, she has seemed a little scared of the potty or at least the training potty seat but she said yes. After sitting a few times on it one day I told her if she went pee pee in the potty that Mommy would buy her some big girl underwear. After Mommy says this, she runs to Ethan and Addison's bedroom, opens Ethan's underwear drawer and looks for a pair to wear. I had her put them back and explained that one, those underwear were to big for her and two, they were boy underwear. She was so sad that she did the usual throw yourself on the ground and whine routine. Sadly for her, Mommy did the ignore her and walk off routine and then when she could walk to Mommy again, I told her that I would buy her underwear on the next grocery shopping trip.
Amazing how much little kids understand because on that previous Saturday I was going to go grocery shopping. Addison always comes with me and occasionally Ethan if he has money to buy anything. Anyway, when I told Addison that we need to get dressed and ready to go grocery shopping she looked up at me and said underwear. I was a little shocked that she was thinking about it that much. I then promised her that one of the items on my list was underwear for Addison.
To make a long story of our grocery shopping/car repair search escapade trip short, Addison got underwear. After buying the underwear, which I promised her she could wear when we got home, we had to head over and celebrate Marissa's birthday. Everyone nearby was meeting at the cemetery were Marissa is to sing Happy Birthday and let 21 purple balloons go. It was a hard and touching time. Here grave looked beautiful with the many flower arrangements that many friends and family provided. I found out later that family in Utah and Idaho also gathered together and let balloons go in the sky for our dear Marissa. What a fun thought of all these balloons go out to a special sister in so many different states. Like I said hard but touching.
Those that gathered with us in Nevada was invited to then come over to the house and have some ice-cream cake (Marissa's favorite). When we got home though, again Addison's great memory and Mommy's wonderful promise was remembered and Addison wanted to wear her underwear. I sadly try to talk her out of my promise, since we had company coming but I didn't have the heart or really the energy. So our potty training adventures began on March 8th, 2014 on the evening of Sissy's birthday. Because of this our company got to see my two year old in nothing but her underwear that night. She was so proud of it, Mommy was a little embarrassed and everyone else thought it so sweet. Funny.
Now it has almost been a week. And she is still wearing her underwear from the moment she wakes up till the moment she is getting tired and ready for bed. Yes, we have had some accidents but I am pleased to say that she has had many successes. I still, sadly, wonder if this will continue or eventually fade out since we are doing it so soon, but I hope that I am proven wrong and she is going to be a potty trained big girl her soon.
