Potty...Blankie...Husband Brag

Again, showing what a terrible mother I am, I thought when I wrote this post that I would be reporting how Addison has lost interest in potty training or that I threw my hands up in the air and decided to wait and try again later. I am, though, a proud mom reporting that we have a 2 year old that is daytime potty trained. She has been so easy.
After my last post, she might have had two or three more pee-pee accidents on the floor but after that she seem to understand that underwear does not absorb pee. Either that or she didn't like the idea of sitting on time out when peeing on the floor. So

Sunday while talking and bragging to my mother about how great Addison is doing she pees on the floor but that was her last accident.
She is doing so good that most times she has already gone potty and coming to report to me that she went potty. Now if she really did or not most times, I don't know but at least she is still excited and pleased with herself. It is also funny that when she comes to report to me she is completely naked. We are now working on learning to put our underwear on after we go potty, which is really hard for a two year old to do.
Then the next step will be the night time potty but I am not rushing that since she can't open her own bedroom door yet and we are still having trouble with her sleeping at night that I am not leaving the bedroom door open. When she has dry diapers in the morning constant and she hopefully goes to sleep better then we will aim for a night time potty trained girl.
Were all just so excited that she is potty trained. Daddy and Mommy are excited because she is growing up and we are saving money on diapers and Ethan is excited for her because he also gets a piece of candy when Addison goes potty. We are starting to lessen the candy since she is doing so good, so Ethan's excitement might change.
It feels like lately that I have been bragging a lot about Addison's accomplishments, so just to make things fair, Ethan has also been making big strides. Not only is Ethan continuing to learn new things everyday in reading, writing, math and a little social studies, but he is also spiritually growing. For part of his schooling, we are learning the Articles of Faith. He has Articles of Faith 1-5 completely memorized with six almost down and starting seven. I try not to only have him memorize them but we go over them and try to figure out what the Article of Faith is teaching/ telling us. I can not believe how smart he is.
Ethan is also trying to get ready for kindergarten next year by leaving his blankie on his bed and not sucking his thumb during the day. Yes, I am a mom that did not worry about my child having a blankie and sucking his thumb. Even now I don't worry to much except that I tell him he can't take blankie to school. I know that could be one hard adjustment for Ethan when school comes around so we are working on it and he has been doing so good. He does admit that he cannot wait to get blankie at bed, and he says he does suck his thumb at night. I think that is why Ethan sleeps so good at night and we have a little more trouble with Addison. I should have encouraged her to suck her thumb more, I guess. (Just kidding).

I don't want to leave a really important part of this family out. Matthew has also been doing great. He is still teaching 9th grade English at Coronado High School. You can tell by the way he talks about his students and by the way he says he acts out the plays/books they read, that he loves his job. He tells me the hardest part right now is commuting the little over an hour drive just one way and then another to come home. Of course, those that know Matthew knows he reads constant and he hasn't changed that. When he is home we still see him with a book in his hand and because of the long commute he is also taken up listening to audio books. Unfortunately, he hasn't been able to keep up on his writing as much as he likes but he tells me that he has gotten many great ideas of books he would like to write. He hopes to start up again in the summer and find a way to balance writing and teaching in the previous years.
As anyone can see, I have the greatest family with many success going our way. We thank the Lord for these many blessings and memories that are coming our way and I try to not take them for granted.
