A Grinchy December

Sadly, we took down our Thanksgiving Grateful Tree, which made the wall bare. We didn't like that look after our beautiful tree. So Ethan, had lesson for family night on Monday. He wasn't feeling well so Mommy helped him. We had a lesson on service and what service means and what types of service we could do for others. Then we colored a big Grinch and put it on that bare wall. Every time the kids do an act of service they get to give the Grinch a heart. So far we don't have a lot, not because the kids don't do service but Ethan has been sick with a sore throat and ear ache and Addison has a nose cold. For being sick they actually have done quite a bit of service. They have been enjoying finding ways to do service. I am now hearing a lot of, "Mom, I just helped Addison find her blankie. Or Mom, Addison, helped me put away my shoes. We did service, can we put a heart on Grinch?" They might be really simple acts of service and we might have a lot of hearts on Grinch in the end for these little acts of service but I am glad that they are learning to serve others. Especially during this Christmas month. It is nice to see and hear.
