This year will probably but the most memorable Christmas ever. Yes, we did a lot of the same traditions and activities that we did last year and the year before. We also were able to celebrate the Christmas time with Pappi, Grammy, Uncle Michael, Aunt Felicia and Alex. Our kids though got something that they have been wanting since we moved away from Pappi and Grammy. Pappi and Grammy this year for Christmas got our family a puppy. It was a great surprise. For Christmas Eve, we went to Pappi and Grammy's house to celebrate. As mentioned in my previous post, Addison was not feeling well and was a little grumpy but she was still playing with some of the toys. The kids watched the classic Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, and Frosty the Snowman. Ethan, Daddy, Uncle and Grammy played Daddy's Legendary Marvel card game. Pappi made lots of junk food to help us gain the Christmas pounds.
Addison on top of not feeling good got a sliver in her hand. Pappi helped pull out the sliver with a needle and twizzers, then he of course put medicine and a band aid on to make it all better. But even with a band aid on she wouldn't calm down. From not feeling good, being tired and also have mini surgery with a needle she had had it. Everyone tried to sooth her. Even Pappi with the magic touch was being pushed away and yelled at. Only Grammy's idea of letting her open the traditional Christmas Eve present got her to calm down a little. This year the traditional pajamas was changed to a tradition Christmas book. Grammy decided keeping up with sizes on the grandkids was a little overwhelming, (I agree) and thought books would be best. I think this is a better tradition, especially for our family because we love books so much. Addison at first didn't even want to open a present but with a little coaxing she calmed down enough to open her gift. Addison got a Llama Llama book and Ethan got If You Take A Mouse To the Movie. Ethan was excited about his book. He had read it before at school with his teacher, so it made the book more exciting because his teacher has it too. Addison liked the book, but again, was so sick that she didn't care to read it.
The gift, though that will be remembered for years to come is the one Pappi and Grammy pulled out next. Seeing that the kids were getting tired and it was time to get back home. They wanted to get Grandma Great to open a couple more presents and also to go see Aunt Sissy. When they came back, it wasn't just Grandma Great they brought over. They had a bag with something our kids having been wanting and needing since we moved from Pappi and Grammy's house. In that large bag was a PUPPY!!!! Grammy and Pappi found a cute white and golden eared boy buchon puppy. We were all so excited. They said that he is only twelve weeks old and he is already crate and potty trained. While playing with our new pup we were trying to come up with a name for him. Matthew was looking up puppy names on his phone and everyone else was giving suggestions. Then Ethan, being a smarty said, he like to play tug-a-war. Lets call him Tuggle. Matthew and I looked at each other We both actually thought that was a great dog name. So our family of four is a family of five. He already seems to love the kids and they love him. Mommy has even been enjoying the walks, playing, tummy rubbing but is still working on the potty training in our apartment. Thank you Pappi and Grammy for our new family member, Tuggle.
One of the other special events on Christmas Eve was going to Aunt Sissy's grave and sharing Christmas songs of Jesus birth to her. We sang Silent Night and Marissa's favorite We Can Be Together Forever Someday. Even though it was hard to carry the tune from crying, it was a spiritual event in which I am sure Marissa was there. This Christmas we are dearly missing her but know we will see her again because of the gift of our Savior.
