December Health

So during this month of December we have had had our share of sickness. Ethan had to stay home for four days of school because of a bad cold and sore throat. We tease him and say he was faking though because when taking him to quick care on the third day, they said his throat looked fine and the ear that he said hurt was actually okay it was the other ear that was slightly pink. Of course, I was just teasing. Ethan looked sick in the face, was coughing up phlegm and could hardly talk. The doctor still gave us an antibiotic for the slightly pink ear and we saw improvements within the day.
Unfortunately, Ethan spread his sickness over to Mommy. Some how it last longer with adults as well. Even though I threatened to spank him for getting me sick, I didn't mind. The only problem was I lost my voice as well and I had to sing in relief society for someones lesson. After praying hard and doctoring up myself up as best I could, I was blessed and able to sing the song. At least enough that they could hopeful understand the message in the words. I also had cub scouts that week and had to stay back from them as much as possible. I was pretty sure that parents didn't want their kids sick before Christmas. After a couple of weeks, I started to feel better and got my voice back.
Since Ethan and I had our sick time, after that I was worried that Addison and Daddy were next. I was especially nervous for Matthew, since he has to teach and he also had a Magic tournament that he was going to. He had already paid for the plane ticket and hotel room, and he kept saying that even if he got sick, he would go anyway. That would be miserable. Thank goodness we were blessed again and he has able to go to his tournament healthy and he had lots of fun. He went with a friend, Zack and he meet lots of important people in the Magic community. Even through Christmas, Matthew has been in good health, so hopefully this continues. (knocking on wood three times).
As for Addison, we thought that she also was blessed and spared of any sickness. Unfortunately the day before Christmas Eve, she got hit with the yucky tummy throw up bug. She was complaining all day long that her tummy hurt and I demonstrated where she should go if she needed to throw up. Also realizing that she is a two (almost three) year old and would probably not make it, Mommy was waiting for the moment to clean up throw up. Later that night, we were waiting for Pappi, Grammy, Uncle Michael, Aunt Felicia and Alex to show up so we could get dinner. It got pretty late and the kids were very hungry. Daddy decided that we should just go buy a Papa Murphy's pizza. The kids were excited since we don't get that often and wanted to go help get it. So we went to Papa Murphy's as a family. As soon as we get through the door, hadn't even had a chance to order the pizza, Addison throws up in her blankie and down her jacket. The plus is she didn't throw up anywhere in Papa Murphys. The bad news, is she had throw up all over her, all in her favorite blankie, and a little on Mommy. Mommy and Addison went outside and stood by the car, while Daddy and Ethan waited inside for the pizza. Then we hurried home where Pappi, Grammy and everyone was waiting for us. We got Addison cleaned up and washed all her and Mommy's things. She was fine the rest of the night and even had a little pizza. However Christmas Eve, Addison was not all better. She was very grumpy, whinny and tired. We went to Pappi and Grammy's house for Christmas Eve, which they had been looking forward to since the beginning of December but Addison was not feeling well and was very miserable there. However she didn't throw up until 4:30 a.m. Christmas morning. She even made it to the toilet the first time. The second time though, she threw up just water all over Mommy and Daddy's bed. We cleaned it up, got Addison cleaned and comfortable in Mommy and Daddy's bed and she eventually went back to sleep. Since she was sick, we didn't have the heart to wake her when Ethan woke for Christmas. So we didn't follow tradition and let Ethan open his Santa gifts while Addison slept.
Talk about bad timing the the health department. Even though, Addison was sick this Christmas and a little grumpy Christmas Eve. We still had a great Christmas. We created more memories and traditions. We still ate more junk food than we should. We got to be with family. We got to be with each other but more importantly we were able to remember Jesus Christ. We remembered that he lived and had a birthday as well. And in our family we remembered that he did many acts of service for others, which we tried to do this month of December. It was another great Christmas.
