Hoping to to save a little money from staying home and not traveling, we had the opposite happen with water heater breaking and being replaced, having to take the car in to a dealership a couple of times and still has a few issues, identity theft resulting in having accounts frozen and not knowing what is in the accounts for a couple of weeks and getting new bank accounts and cards. Matthew drivers license expired by a year and having to get it updated. Trying several ways to find employment like unofficial daycare, piano lessons, donating plasma and just applying at random stores all ending in dead ends and failures. Like I said, lot of events, stress and failures this summer but there was also lots of good times.
Since we didn't get employment this summer, we had lots of time to go swimming at our apartment pool. Because of this, Ethan and Addison have become excellent swimmers. They started out swimming with life jackets and now they swim on their own. Ethan swimming in the deepest side and learning the different strokes from his Dad, Pappi and Grammy and Addison swimming back and forth to Mommy and the stairs. Honestly, Addison is more advance that Ethan was at her age. She took it like a fish or she calls herself a Bubble Guppy.
This summer Ethan found a new favorite game or he thinks hobby of Minecraft. Mommy played it a couple of times to learn about this game that lots of kids talk about and found it is a great games for kids to strategies, build, create and calculate. I couldn't help but let him play the game for hours most days, since it is summer and this game is better than most games.
Addison spent many hours playing with her Minnie Mouse house and toys. Addison though, has been also developing her art talent. He has progressed in drawing hundreds of family and Minnie Mouse pictures. She has also been coloring a lot of pictures and gotten good about staying in the lines and mixing colors to make new colors. We have lots of talents in this house.
Daddy spent the majority of the summer playing Magic, writing articles for magic, playing Magic on-line with his on-line friends, going to tournaments and then also dealing with the curve balls that I listed early that came our way this summer.
Mommy kept busy with her calling as Primary counselor, reading lots of books, trying to keep up with working out and making quilts. I made everyone in the house each a quilt, Daddy a random levi quilt, Ethan a Minecraft quilt, Addison a Minnie Mouse quilt and then just another extra random material quilt.
For our last hooray, before school starts for everyone. Daddy went to Detroit for a Magic tournament and when Daddy is out of town that is automatically a slumber party for the kids and I. So Friday, we dropped Daddy off at the airport in the morning. We did our usual clean house and chores. Played lots of games, with Ethan getting to play Minecraft. Then getting ready for our fun slumber party which ended up with Addison falling asleep early from getting up early to drop Daddy off. Everyone's sleeping arrangements starting with Addison getting the little couch, Mommy getting the big couch and Ethan sleeping on the air mattress on the floor but ended in Mommy getting the air mattress and Ethan getting the comfy big couch. Then when Ethan dozed off around midnight, half way through the Lego movie, Addison wakes up ready to watch movies. Unfortunetly for Addison, Mommy was tired so Mommy let her finish the Lego movie then turned out the lights. Addison played her InnoTab until she fell asleep again.
Then the next day we played games and watched cartoons. Then in the afternoon we went and saw the new Minion movie. Ethan seemed to enjoy it and so did Addison, even though she had a hard time sitting still and at times asked if it was almost done and if we could go yet. Addison is not a movie theater fan. We also had to get up during the movie to take Ethan to the restroom. Then we went to the mall to get a pretzel, play at the indoor playground and hit a sale on men's shirts for Daddy at JcPenny. We also couldn't help but go swimming again on a hot day have a little dinner, take usual baths and by that time have enough to watch a short bed time movie.
The kids and I did go to church the next day and Mommy has to say that was the roughest and most eventful Sunday that I have had since being in the Primary presidency calling. With kids running away through the hallways of the church, new member kids crying and wanting their mother. Addison acting up and talking back to mommy during sacrament. Kids needing to go to the bathroom during sacrament. Primary president being out of town. Not sure what kids had talks, prayer and scripture for Primary opening. Having popcorn messes from the counselor showing a movie and lesson for her sharing time. It was a whirlwind of a Sunday. Then the kids and I had to stay awake we thought only until 11 pm to get Daddy from the airport but with flight delays. Daddy being stuck on the plane for an hour to get off and then construction traffic after picking up Daddy, we didn't get home to around 2 am in the morning.
Like I said a very eventful unexpected eventful summer considering we were just planning on staying home this summer. But also a great summer with many memories and many learning experiences. Now to take on the school year.
