MInnie MInecraft Traditional Pinata

Here is our traditional pinata. Again, just like the costumes they had to be a little challenging with what to make the pinata into. I usually have them agree on theme to make the pinata but it was really hard to get them to agree on a character, so Mommy decided she could try to do both. Ethan wanted a Minecraft creeper and Addison wanted Minnie Mouse. Shock!!! Anyway, thinking that a creeper is just a green block with a face and Minnie Mouse is just an oval with some ears and a bow, I thought that it wouldn't be to hard. Now that we are down, I feel this might be our worst pinata yet but like I keep telling myself, if the kids are happy Mommy is happy.
So Addison and I plastered the newspaper and goop on a balloon while Ethan was in school. This was a little strange, since I started this tradition with Ethan when Ethan was Addison's age. We sure missed Ethan while doing this. Addison and I were trying really hard not to put too much goop or layers on the balloon. In previous years, we have done to much and literally have had to take a hammer or jump on the pinata to break it. Then we let it dry a couple of days. Usually, we glue color tissue paper on the pinata to decorate it but I couldn't find green, black or peach so I glued newspaper all over and then on Saturday the kids helped paint and decorate the pinata. It was a lot cheaper and a lot of fun. My kids like to paint, so they had a blast using their artistic painting skills in making a creeper and Minnie Mouse. Then Mommy ruined it by putting on the faces. We did our best and even though Mommy feels they are more creepy and warped looking they passed the kid test. Now we have our pinata to break for our Halloween party.
