So a couple of weeks ago, we finally got a car. I can drive again. A couple months ago, when Matthew was coming home from work our Nissan Maximum died in Vegas. Dad had the family mechanic Tom come over and look at it. He said the engine is dead but we could buy a a decent engine for a Nissan for not a bad price. Cheaper than buying another used car. After thinking it over we decided to take Tom's suggestion and bought a hardly used engine for a great price from a company all the way in New York.
Unfortunately, it wasn't going to be that easy to replace. Tom started taking the car apart to put our engine in when it arrived and found many, many more complications to the car. In the end he quoted us another $3000 in order to get it repaired properly. We were, of course, sick with the news. We had used all we had to buy that engine, hoping it would fix our car. So we have been saving Matthew's pay checks and did some other financial planning and adjusting to get a car.
We decided
to just get a cheap used car and are still thinking about saving our money to
eventually repair our Nissan, since we will need another vehicle in the near
future, with kids going to school here soon. Matthew found our 2001 Toyota Camry in St. George with Dad's help. We are so grateful that we have such
great parents that have let us barrow their vehicles so Matthew could get to
work and have helped us in finding this car. Since we are not that smart when
it comes to vehicles.
