For our first October family night, we had a blast at the Stu Miller's Pumpkin Patch Carnival just down the street. The kids saw on the corner of Stephanie and Wigwam that they were putting up inflatable bounce house and inflatable slides. Of course, since then they have been begging to go there and play. So we decided to go on family night. We invited Pappi and Grammy and decided that we would skip the traditional lesson, songs and so forth and go to this carnival. The funny thing is that the kids were so confused about how we were just going to the carnival and not do the lesson. Ethan kept telling me, let's do the activity first and I kept explaining to him that all we were going to do for family night was the activity.
Anyway, when Pappi and Grammy showed up we walked over the the carnival. Yes, it was a little walk but it is that close to us that we could walk and I have to say that the kids loved the walk with Pappi, Grammy and Daddy, Mommy almost as much as they loved the whole carnival. It said free admission but, of course, if you wanted to go on the rides, slides or play the games you had to by tickets. Daddy and Mommy purchased tickets and being great grandparents Pappi and Grammy also bought more tickets so the kids had plenty of chances to play.
Ethan went right for the inflatable slides that he saw and I think that was his favorite event in the carnival. Thank goodness, the inflatable slides where only one ticket, so he was able to go many times down the couple of slides. We couldn't convince Addison to go down the slide. Even Pappi was willing to climb up the slide with her and go down but she didn't want to step foot on the slide. Addison's favorite event at the carnival was the spinning swing set and what we called the whirly-twirly rides. They also both played the ring toss to get a prize. It was nice that they got a prize even if they didn't hit a single bottle. They also had carnival food, petting zoo and a little train ride but the kids loved their slides and rides that they weren't even interested in the rest.
Once we used all the tickets purchased we walked back home. I have to say that it was a brutal walk home since most of the grown-ups kept getting kicked in the butt by kids being swung. He-he. Ethan and Addison even got a shoulder ride home from getting to tired to walk from Pappi and Daddy.
It didn't end there with the silliness. I had the kids take quick bath/shower to wash any allergies and hay collected. Then we had to have the treat. You can never skip the treat for family night. They had the choice of Oreos that Pappi brought or sugar cookies with whip cream ( I mean ghost diarrhea) and chocolate chips ( I mean witch warts or doggy poop). Like I said the night was super silly. Pappi even got more creative and ate Hulk diarrhea by mixing green food coloring and whip cream. Do I condone this, well, I am the one that started it with Ethan's school snacks. So yes, yes I do. Like I said the start of a great October family night.
Like most kids, Ethan and Addison are plotting when we are going to go do it again and what prize they will get next when playing the games and what rides the will ride the most next time. I tell them that that was probably the only time we will go since the tickets are a little much but we will see if Mommy and Daddy stay mean or cave in. Thanks Pappi and Grammy for such a great family night.
