Ethan's 2nd Day 6 Year Old Birthday

It has pretty much becoming a tradition to have two day birthdays at our house. So for Ethan's second day of his birthday, we went to the Discovery Children's Museum here in Nevada. We have heard many great things about this museum for kids from Pappi, Grammy and people in our ward so we used Ethan's birthday as an excuse to go check it out.

We meet up with Pappi and Grammy at the Discovery Children's Museum and as soon as you enter you can see all the fun things to do. It isn't just for kids, I think us adults had just as much fun but it is a great place where your kids do anything and everything. Even Addison had a blast. There are three stories to go tour and almost not enough time in the day to explore it all. They have the kids favorite which was the Water Works, where you get to experiment with water pressure, see how water can make electricity, make music with water, set up obstical courses in water and for Addison just play in water and get wet.
Then next favorite was the fairytale land, where there is a huge pirate ship to run around in. You get to fire the cannons, raise the flag poles, climb the pirate ladder and go crazy and then on the other side of the room is a big castle to climb in. Addison loved playing dress up in princess dresses. They even had a stage between the castle and pirate ship were you could set up props, be encharge of the lights and act out a play or just act out. They even had a toddler area where they could get into a train and honk the horn, go down a fun slide and put bean bags in toddler wheelbarrows and send them through a coal mine assembly line.
The next level had food and nutrition with lots of games about how to be health and eat right. There was also a gross or scary exhibit (I can't remember the actual name and what it did, I was with Addison and she didn't seem interested in looking at scary gross things.) Another favorite of Addison was the Art exhibit where you could color, cut, paste, paint and learn about colors. They even had a place to mix color with lights and see the results of mixing different colors. Since Addison loves to color we were in this exhibit on this level most of the time. On this level there was also a hurricane machine that you got into and got blown away. Pappi, Grammy and Ethan waited in line to get into A hurricane. Addison was getting tired and a little grumpy at this point and didn't want to get in. I don't think she would even if she wasn't tired. Anyway, Pappi, Grammy and Ethan went in and were laughing the whole time but Addison didn't like to see them in there getting blowed and ended up crying the whole time they were in there. We told her they were fine but she seemed concerned about them getting blown. Then we went around the corner to the Solve It exhibit where you get to dig or pan for gold and other fun rocks and artifacts. We knew Addison was getting to the last straw because she just touched the sand and started crying. So Pappi and Ethan stayed and panned for gold, in which they found a lot of fools gold, while Mommy, Grammy, Daddy and Addison sat and had a time out. When Ethan came out through the tunnel and Pappi came out the cave exit, Addison was a little more refreshed to keep going to more.
The next level was really cool. It was the place the kids worked the hardest. That was a terrible joke. Anyway, this exhibit was called Eco City where the kids got to pretend to work jobs at the grocery store, at Jamba Juice, as a Vet, you could be an construction work or be a mechanic. They have a car to repair, stuffed animals to take care of, check out stands to help customers or you could be the buyer of lots of food. You actually earned a pretend pay check and then there was a ATM were you could get money with your pay check to pay for items. It was a really fun and the kids where from one thing to the next in this area.
During all this we did take a short break to have a snack in their snack room. Mommy tried to be prepared and brought snack lunches for the kids but they had vending machines in the snack room. So they bargain and traded with their Grammy and got a couple of snacks out of the way cool vending machine. Before we left we also had to stop at their gift shop. I was surprised that their toys and trinkets were actually not to badly priced. I had the kids bring their money with them telling them that Daddy and Mommy spent enough money to take them to the museum and so if they wanted a toy they had to spend their own money. I know, what a mean mom. The kids had enough money though that Ethan bought a dinosaur that hatches out of an egg when set in water, he bought a fossil dinosaur that you have to dig out of a clay brick and he bought an eye patch. Addison bought a rubber ducky that you can paint yourself. Pappi and Grammy couldn't help also buying them some rock candy suckers as well.
At the end we were at the museum from 11am to 4pm. When you are there you don't feel like you have done a lot but at the same time you are so worn out. In the end we were all tired and worn out but we had so much fun. Everyone meet back at our house to have dinner and relax after a long day.
We can't also forget about our wonderful puppy in all this. This is the first time that we left Tuggle for a full day out of his crate. Mommy had a lot of mixed emotions about leaving the dog so long by himself. (I guess I have gotten attached to this dog) but in the end he was the best. We came home to a still clean house, no potty accidents or rips in the furniture. He was sure glad to see us when getting home and he is still cute as ever. We love him so much and has been a great addition to our family.
