On March 20, 2015 Friday evening, Ethan's school had a Mother/Son date night. We went to the school in our pajamas, brought our pillows and blankets and sat on the gym floor and watched Big Hero Six on a big screen in the gym. When we got to the door, we gave them our movie ticket we paid for, then we each got our bag of goodies, which included lots of little candies like Laffy Taffy, fruit snack, smarties, licorice, a capri sun and three coupons for one nacho, one bag of popcorn and one bottle of water. I thought it was a cute idea and it is always fun for mothers and sons to get a bag of goodies.
Once we gathered all our goodies and found an open spot on the floor to sit we sat and wait for the movie to start. Before they started the movie though, they gave the mother and sons a chance to get a picture together by a professional photographer. I was so excited, since I like to scrapbook memories like this.
We sat again some more and waited for the movie to start. Ethan saw a few students from his class that he would point out to me or would go say hi to. Ethan was so excited about this date not only because it was one on one time with mommy but because he had already seen the movie with Daddy on a Daddy son date and Mommy hasn't seen the movie. So he knew more than Mommy and had to tell me about the movie and that I might cry because it is sad.
Honestly, it was really hard to hear the movie and they had problems with the microphone making the loud screeching noise every so often. Also, my legs went numb sitting on the hard gym floor and being cramped so not having room to adjust. But in the end, I thought it was the funnest night and hope to have more mother/ son dates with Ethan. I was still his Mommy but I was fun Mommy that wasn't getting on him or asking him to help sister, or distracted with others or with projects while he is trying to tell me something. He enjoyed having Mommy all to himself and I enjoyed being able to have him all to myself and just talk about what he liked to talk about, and see him excited about the movie, food and experience.
I don't know if this blog makes sense or if it seems like I am just rambling. This is just for my own memories sake to remember these special events with my children.
