Ethan's 6th Birthday

Yes!Yes! I have a six year old son. This is crazy and overwhelming and exciting and depressing and stressful. Can you tell I have a lot of mixed emotions on this birthday business. Anyway, I think that Ethan had a great birthday and they get better every year. This year it was even more fun because he is in school and got to celebrate and bring treats on his birthday. So the day started out with Mommy, Ethan and Addison dropping off thirty homemade cupcakes with oreo cookies, hulk rings on top in hulk treat bags. We also had to provide the drinks and he was excited that Mommy bought Hugs juice barrels this time instead of the boring water we usually do. After dropping off Ethan and his treats to school, Mommy had a crazy day of cleaning house for the birthday party, preparing to do the weekly grocery shopping and other shopping, giving Tuggle his weekly bath and trying to get all of it done before Ethan is done with school in two hours.
He was even so excited about his school treats that we made extra to give to the kids at the bus stop. Thank goodness Mommy looked ahead and realized it was going to be a pretty crazy and trying day that I made his Hulk cake the day before. He said he is still into Hulk so we looked on-line for ideas on what to do for his cake this year since we did Hulk cake last year. He found a cake he really wanted where the Hulk's fist looks like it is coming out of the cake. I think he tries to set Mommy up for failure when it comes to cakes. Mommy decided to try though, so I made a Hulk fist out of rice krispy treats like it suggested and then I made the cake and put a small hole into and their you have a Hulk fist smash cake. Let me tell you, it sound easy but it was hard. Espically one that has no talent in the cake department. Ethan was happy with it though and it tasted great, so that is all that matters anyway.
So later that night, Pappi and Grammy came over to celebrate Ethan's birthday. We had Ethan's favorite dinner of Papa Murphy's pizza and soda. Then Daddy made the mistake of letting Ethan open his presents first in which he got a Nintendo DS with a DS Sonic game from Mommy and Daddy. He got I Spy and Ninjago DS games from Grandpa and Grandma Brooks, he got the Joker Steam Roller Lego set and Lego Star Wars DS game and a cool Spider Man shirt from Pappi and Grammy and he got money from Grammy Great in which he spent it right away on the new Lego Batman 3 PC game. Yes, my kids are spoiled when it comes to birthdays and holidays, but they are also are very good and deserve it.
Since he opened presents first and he got a game stations for his birthday you can imagine how difficult it was to pry him away long from the gadget long enough to sing happy birthday and blow candles. Sadly, after all the effort of making the Hulk cake that he wanted he was so excited about his presents that he didn't even have his birthday cake and ice-cream but Mommy was also so excited that he loved his presents and was having so much fun that I was fine at the same time. Plus, I thought the cake and ice cream was pretty good along with everyone else so it wasn't a complete loss. Now I have a break from kids birthdays for another year. Who knows what my kids are going to make me create next?
